1921-2024

George J. Budrus, 103, of Mosinee, formerly of Gilman, passed away on Friday, Sept. 20, 2024 at Marshfield Medical Center-Weston. He was born at the family home in Lublin on Feb. 22, 1921 to the late Joseph and Mary (Grajek) Budrus. George grew up in Lublin and graduated from Gilman High in 1939.

George served his country in the Army during WWII. Upon his return to the area he married Bernice Woytowicz on June 30, 1945 at St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church-Lublin where they have been members since.

The couple created and ran together Budrus Elevator in Gilman for many years. George loved fishing, and enjoyed antiques, cars, Polka music and was very proud of family heritage.

He is survived by his wife of 79 years, Bernice of Mosinee, and many nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Edward; and sisters, Agnes, Margaret and Marcella.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024 at St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church-Lublin with Father John Kutek and Father Marion Talaga co-officiating. Burial will follow at the PNCC Church Cemetery. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Gilman Funeral Home and Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church.
