Robert Pohlman
Robert “Bubba” C. Pohlman, age 83, of Owen, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. Interment followed at Pine Hill Cemetery in Curtiss with military honors provided by the Colby VFW Post #2777. Rev. Teri Hanson presided. Visitation was held from 4 until 8 p.m. on Monday, March 10, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday, all at the funeral home.
Bubba was born on September 21,1941, the son of Charles and Helen (Tester) Pohlman in Watertown. He graduated from Deerfield High School. Bubba served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1962-68. On June 8, 1963, Robert was united in marriage to Karen Beckman in Juda. Together they farmed in Fall River, then in 1976 moved to Dorchester and farmed in Dorchester and Curtiss until his retirement. He also drove milk truck.
Bubba loved to go fishing and hunting, especially turkey and deer. He also enjoyed bowling and played softball and played on a city baseball team when he was younger. Bubba especially enjoyed his daily routine of having coffee with his friends at OW Sports in Owen. Most importantly, he loved and cherished his family.
Bubba is survived by his wife of 61 years, Karen; three children: Kim (Dale) Williams of Stetsonville, Curt (Mary) Pohlman of Loyal and Dawn (Kenny) Schmitt of Cadott; a daughter-in-law, Renee Pohlman of Marshfield; 13 grandchildren: Rhonda (Christopher) Reinhart, Rosie (Josh) Zastrow, Rebecca Pohlman (Roger Hattamer), Jennifer Lewandowski, Travis (Camille) Lewandowski, Laura (Travis) Stibbe, Zech (Tessa) Kaitlynn, McKayla Marshall, Lewandowski, Breanna Lewandowski, Mitchell (Emily) Pohlman, Kayla (Seth) Gale, Nick (Deanna) Schmitt, Kyle Schmitt and Devin Schmitt; 15 great-grandchildren: Michael, Koda, Bentley, Makenzie, (Kyle), Weston, Arhlen, Exzana, Sawyer, Kinslee, Kaden, Carson and Weston. He is further survived by his siblings: Russell “Doc” (Jenny) Pohlman, Virginia (Glenn) Kassube and Mary Pohlman; a sister-inlaw, Carolyn Pohlman; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Rodney; and two brothers: Gerald “Turk” Pohlman and Roger “George” Pohlman.
