Robert Guralski
Robert S. Guralski, age 90, of Abbotsford, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025, at the Colby Senior Care under the tender care of St Croix Hospice.
A service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025. St.Thomas Catholic church in Milan. Father George Graham presided. Interment to follow at St. Thomas Cemetery. Family and friends were welcomed from 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the church. Military honors were provided by the American Legion Post #4 and Athens VFW #8527. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.
Robert was born on November 14,1934, the son of Walter and Clara (Wojciechowski) Guralski at their home in Marathon County. He attended Poniatowski Rural Schools through the eighth grade. Robert served in the United States Army and his service lead him to France in 1957. On June 3, 1961, Robert was united in marriage to Alice Proft at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Athens. Alice preceded Robert in death in 2020 and is greeting him whole heartedly. He was a lifelong member of St Thomas Catholic Church in Milan. Together they farmed in the Town of Johnson for many years and began their family. In his younger years he enjoyed playing catcher for the County League baseball team. He hunted deer and small game.
During his retirement he mowed lawn at the Abbotsford Cemetery. His time crappie and ice fishing with his sons and grandsons were always memorable. He was an avid Wisconsin sports fan, especially the Packers and did not turn down a card game or doing a puzzle. Most importantly, Robert cherished his family. Robert is survived by three children: Mary Lynn Martyn, Samuel (Judy) Guralski and Timothy Guralski; six grandchildren: Rory (Emily) Martyn, Max (Michelle) Martyn, Josh (Audry) Guralski, Kyle (Taylor) Guralski, Jason (Sara) Haumschild and Jessica Stoflet; nine great-grandchildren: Abbie, Colin, Jacob, Penny, Morgan, Dane, James, Miles and Gavin. He is further survived by his siblings: Barbara Diers, Delores Gajewski, Lucille (Jim) Kleparski and Joan (Norman) Soczka; two brother- in-laws: Lyle Steder and Tom (Mary Jane) Proft; and one sister-in-law: Gertrude Guralski.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; six brothers: Ervin, Arthur, Raymond, Walter Jr., Leroy and Albert; three sisters: Janet Steder, Agnes Guralski and Violet Farkas; six brothers-in-law: Norman Diers, Raymond Gajewski, Zane Farkas, James, Robert and Ronald Proft; and three sisters-in-law: Veronica, Annabelle and Stacie Guralski. He will be reunited happily with his faithful Beagle companion, Snoopy.
He will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank Chaplain Randy Mantik and the nurses with St. Croix Hospice, as well as the staff of the Colby Senior Care, for all the care and support.
