Lake Holcombe is showing progress in league action

Lake Holcombe’s girls basketball program is still in the running for fourth place in the East Lakeland Conference, but in order to capture that placing, they have to take care of business in their remaining schedule.
That was apparent, Feb. 14, as New Auburn came to call. The Chieftains struggled to put any points on the board and were down by 18 at halftime. In the second half, Lake Holcombe was held to just eight points.
“We really struggled to get anything going offensively,” said coach Matthew Stewart. “Defensively, we played them really tough for awhile there, but had some key turnovers at the end of the first half that allowed them to really build the lead and by then, we were not able to recover.”
The game went to the Trojans, 62-20, bringing the Chieftains to 7-14 on the season and 6-8 in the league.
“Overall, our progress is showing and I am proud of what we have accomplished so far,” said Stewart.
