Susan “Sue” Kay Gindt
Susan “Sue” Kay Gindt, 73, Cadott, passed away at home, after a short battle of cancer, surrounded by family and sent to Heaven with love, Friday, Feb. 7, 2025.
Susan was born July 13, 1951, in Eau Claire, to the late Lawrence and Francis (McQuillan) Carey.
She attended and graduated from Memorial High School, in 1969. Sue went on to Milwaukee, and earned a dental assistant degree.
Sue later returned to the Eau Claire area, and met the love of her life, James “Jim” JW. The city girl married the farm boy, the love of her life, JW, Jan. 8, 1972, in holy matrimony, at St. Patrick’s Church in Eau Claire.
She and Jim eventually moved to the Gindt family farm, where they raised their four children. Later, after farming, Sue went on to work at the Northern Center for 20 years, from there, the couple moved in, and cared for, Jerome Koutnik, from the Northern Center, and gave him a warm family home to live in.
Sue continued working at the Medicine Shoppe/LTC after Jerome’s passing in 2009, until retirement.
She is survived by her four children – Debra (Mike) Jacques, Thorp, Sara (Brian) Prescher, Houlton, Jason Gindt, Cadott, and Jennifer (Kevin) Peterson, Cadott; nine grandchildren – Ezra, Owen, Aidan, Caleigh, Ethan, Abby (Cody), Mitchell, Chloey and Paige; two great grandchildren – Cooper and Kolsyn; sister – Julie (Bill) Dewitz, Prescott; brother – Dan (Kathy) Carey, Eau Claire; brother-in-law – Duane (Jill) Gindt, Boyd; sisters-in-law – Claudia Gindt, Chippewa Falls, and Judy Adamski, Conrath; and many nieces; nephews; extended family and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband – James; parents – Lawrence and Frances Carey, and Wenzel and Marion Gindt; grandparents – Jack and Anna Mc-Quillan, and Frank and Lena Carey; brother-in-law – Roger; sisters-in-law – Diane and Carol; and infant grandson.
Sue requested a celebration of life in her honor, Saturday, June 7, at her home, from 1-5 p.m., and will be laid to rest at a private burial, next to JW, in the Brooklawn Cemetery in Cadott.
To my children, Sara, Jason, Jenny and son-in-law, Kevin “HHH,” my sister, Julie, for taking such good care of me during this journey. One day at a time!
