Winifred “Winnie” Niznik

1932-2025
Winifred “Winnie” Mae Niznik, 92, of Lublin, beloved mother to ten children, passed away on Friday, Feb. 14, 2025 under the loving care of the Aspirus Stanley Hospital doctors and nurses. Surrounded by her family she will leave a void her family cannot fill. Winnie, as she was known by all her life, was born on Aug. 12, 1932 to the late Lucien and Gabriella (Kozinski) Wisniewski. Winnie grew up in a tiny log cabin on Coyote Avenue in the town of Maplehurst along with her ten siblings and attended Withee area schools. After graduation she worked for a short time in Chicago. She returned to the Withee area and met her love, William “Willie” Niznik. She was united in marriage to William Niznik on Aug. 22, 1950 in Medford. A farm girl at heart, Winnie and Willie settled in the town of Maplehurst where the couple farmed and raised their 10 children.
Winnie was an excellent cook. After farming Winnie owned and operated Left Field Inn Café and Bar in Lublin for many years. Known for her absolutely delicious Friday night fish fry, homemade lunches, and providing meals on wheels for many in the Lublin area.
In her spare time she enjoyed playing bingo at the casino and spending time with all of her children and grandchildren.
Although Winnie was the kind of person who did not like to be celebrated, her legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those who truly knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Faye Niznik (Richard Cwikla) of Withee, Jane (Michael) Smelser of Tyler, Texas, Rita Niznik of Lublin, Bill Niznik (Pam Ewer) of Lublin, Lori Quelle of Withee (Neal Geist), Sue (Tim) Zach of Jump River, Rose Niznik of Cadott, John Niznik of Wisconsin Rapids; one brother, Ben (Cathy) Wisniewski; and brother-in-law, Joseph (Joe) Mrozik; along with 25 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
