NASP ARCHERY

The Medford Archery Club competed this past Saturday in bullseye and 3-D shoots at Auburndale, while the Gilman Pirates Archery Club was in nearby Thorp for bullseye and 3-D shoots.

Here are the highlights from both.

Medford

At Auburndale, the Medford Raiders placed third out of five scoring teams in the high school bullseye division with 3,207 points. Stratford (3,363) and Marshfield (3,264) were ahead of the Raiders, while Fort Atkinson (3,057) and Auburndale (2,957) were fourth and fifth.

Mattie Gebert took second out of 56 high school girls with a score of 284 out of a possible 300. She was two points behind champion Alaina Bangart of Stratford. Kadence Weix was sixth in the division at 278 and Kodi Rappe was 16th with a score of 270.

Ezra Hillebrand placed third out of 57 high school boys with a score of 287. He was five points behind champion Dylann Brogan of Marshfield and one point behind Stratford’s Garrett Drexler.

Dylan Emmerich was fifth out 68 middle school boys with a 278 and Karson Ecklund was ninth at 270. Portage’s Domanick Vogel was the boys champion with a 284.

Wyllow Freudenthal was second out of 29 elementary girls with her score of 271, which was 11 points behind winner Gabrielle Trava of Columbus.

In the 3-D competition, Medford again took third in the high school division. The Raiders’ score of 1,600 put them right in the middle of Stratford (1,653), Marshfield (1,615), Fort Atkinson (1,493) and Auburndale (1,487).

Gebert’s 281 put her second out of 35 high school girls. Kodi Rappe was seventh at 268 and Tana Rappe was ninth at 266. Gebert was two points behind Stratford’s Amanda Budtke.

Hillebrand was third out of 25 high school boys with a score of 286. Wyatt Emmerich of Columbus was the champion at 293. Emmerich ranked ninth among middle school boys at 266 and Freudenthal was second among 12 elementary girls at 251, 22 points behind Trava.

Gilman

At Thorp, the Gilman Pirates were third out of six teams in the high school bullseye shoot with 3,246 points. Lakes International Language Academy, Minn. (3,370) and Cadott (3,325) took the top two spots. The Pirates were well ahead of fourth-place Thorp (3,157).

Leading the way for Gilman’s high schoolers were Alison Krizan and Reece Weir, who were fourth and fifth out of 102 girls with 282s. Krizan had 19 10-point shots and Weir had 16. Logan Wallace was Gilman’s top high school boy with a 272, good for 23rd out of 91 archers.

Lakes International’s Jacob Leach was the boys champion with a 292 and the school’s Anika Madson was the girls champion with a 285.

Colton Lang was Gilman’s top scorer overall with a 293 that put him third among 79 middle school boys. Wyatt Stephens was fifth at 278. Lewis Lukes of Stanley-Boyd was the middle school champion and the day’s overall top archer with a 295.

Ryder Schleis was third out of 40 elementary boys with a 254 and Addison Lang was second out of 30 elementary girls with her 233. Schleis was 14 points away from first and Lang was 22 points away.

In the 3-D shoot, Gilman was second in the middle school team standings with 1,398 points, 17 more than third-place Thorp. Lakes International won easily with 1,569. The Pirates were fourth out of fifth high school teams with 1,534, beating Owen-Withee (1,435). Lakes International again won comfortably with 1,685 points.

Weir was the high school girls champion beating 43 others with a score of 280. Colton Lang was second among 41 middle school boys at 278. Stratford’s Austin Bohman also shot a 278 but won the tiebreaker with 14 10-point shots compared to Lang’s 13.

Gilman’s Kaysen Westaby and Schleis were third and fifth in the elementary boys division with scores of 239 and 233. Addison Lang was third out 22 elementary girls at 202.

Gilman shoot Saturday

The Pirate Archery Club will host its annual bullseye and 3-D shoots Saturday, Feb. 1 at Gilman Schools.

Shooting begins at 7 a.m. with 10 flights being filled for the bullseye shoot through 4:20 p.m. and 12 3-D flights being scheduled through 4:40 p.m.

Concessions will be available all day. A novelty shoot, bucket raffles and more are planned.
