Clarence LeRoy Berg
Clarence LeRoy Berg, 86, Cornell, passed away peacefully, Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025, at Marshfield Medical Center in Eau Claire.
Clarence was born May 24, 1938, on State Hwy. 27, between Holcombe and Cornell. His parents were on their way to the doctor’s office, but Clarence wasn’t waiting, he was going to make a grand entrance into this world.
He grew up in Cornell, and graduated from Cornell High School in 1956. During his high school years, he enjoyed cat fishing below the dam, squirrel hunting on the Fox property and riding on a floating bridge, with Larry Vassar.
Following graduation, he joined the Navy and was active from 1956-59. During his time in the Navy, he traveled to many places, including Japan and the Philippines.
While he was stationed in California, Clarence met his first wife, Sharon. They were married in 1959, and to this union, they had four children – Michelle, Pamela, Daniel and Deborah.
He married Karen Miller, in 1988, and gained three stepsons – Raymond, Roger and Richard.
Clarence enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife – Karen; his three children – Michelle (Jerry) Phelps, Daniel (Colleen) Berg and Deborah (Richard) Hickethier; his grandchildren – Aaron (Kristie), Brandon (Rachel), Catlon (Antonia), Eric (Jackie), Joshua (Tarin), Adam (Dawn), Devyn (AJ), Zachary, Isabella and Stephanie (Steven); great-grandchildren – Ayriella, Bryce, Kinsley, Jonathon, Jacob, Allison, Wyatt, Addeline and Fletcher; seven step-grandchildren; 16 step-great-grandchildren; and his sister-in-law – Marge Berg.
He was preceded in death by his parents – Millard and Gertrude; stepmother – Lucy; daughter – Pamela; brother – Gordon; sister – Wanda; and a special greatgrandchild.
Services were Friday, Jan. 17, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Cornell, with Pastor Ron Gerl officiating.
