February 3, 1900 Fire at Westboro.
The roof of the tannery at Westboro caught fire Monday afternoon at 4 o’clock. The flames were extinguished before any great amount of damage had been done.
100 Years Ago January 29, 1925 103 Marriages, 494 Births, 175 Deaths
One hundred three marriages and 494 births in Taylor County in 1924. These are the official figures as taken from the reports filed in the office of Register of Deeds J.W. Benn. The number of deaths was 175.
This comparison of births and deaths would indicate that Taylor County is a healthy place in which to live.
The number of marriages seems rather small for a county like Taylor.

February 2, 1950 Phyllis Peterson in State Pie Contest
Miss Phyllis Peterson of the Happy Farmerettees 4-H club, will leave Wednesday for Milwaukee where she will compete in the state Cherry Pie baking contest on February 10. The contest, in which four young ladies from the state will compete, will be held at the Wisconsin Gas & Light company building. She will be accompanied by her mother, Mrs. George Peterson.
During the summer, four district contests were held, and it will be these winners who will appear in Milwaukee. Phyllis won in the Chippewa Falls district where she competed against seven other young ladies.
The winner in Milwaukee will represent the state in the national contest scheduled for Chicago.

January 30, 1975 Program To Stem Burglaries Begun In Medford Area
The Medford Jaycees, in cooperation with the county sheriff and city police departments, have initiated a new project to help reduce the soaring burglary rate.
Called “Operation Identification,” the program is designed to discourage burglars from breaking into homes and businesses by providing positive identification of valuable property.
“It involves engraving an identification number on personal belongings,” said Jaycee project chairman Ray Eckert. “This number makes the item difficult for the burglar to sell and easier for the police to trace and recover.” A number of electric engraving tools have been purchased and will be loaned free of charge to those interested in joining Operation Identification.
25 Years Ago February 2, 2000 Young adults caught at Medford drug house
Following the execution of a search warrant two weeks ago on a home in the 700 block of Taylor Street, Medford Police Officers took six adult males and one juvenile female into custody for charges ranging from operating a drug house to possession of controlled substances.
January 29, 2015 Goodbye Mr. Kulas 10 Years Ago Community mourns death of Brian Kulas, a lifelong community leader Brian Kulas’ influence on education and the Medford community was so profound, different generations will likely remember him for different contributions.
Current students in the elementary schools and middle school might know him as the man who teaches their Junior Achievement lessons, or a person who made their Kiwanis bus stop house possible.
