Shirley A. Ramseier
Shirley A. Ramseier, 91, Cadott, passed away peacefully, Monday morning, Dec. 30, 2024, at the Augusta Nursing Home.
Shirley was born March 12, 1933, to Harold and Edith “Ida” (Jaenke) Kuhnert.
She was raised in Fall Creek and Augusta.
Shirley was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fall Creek, and graduated from Augusta High School.
She then worked as a nurse’s aid and then as a telephone operator at the Eau Claire Phone Company.
Shirley met her husband, Don “Slim” Ramseier, and they were married Nov. 25, 1961, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cadott.
The couple then took over the Ramseier family farm, three miles south of Cadott, on State Hwy. 27 and were blessed to have three boys – Jeff, Mitch and Scott, who were a great help on the farm.
She and Don loved to go out for Sunday drives, and visit family and friends. They would go out Friday nights, to Sherwood Inn, for fish, and the Black Bear Supper Club on State Hwy. 27. Don would get a whiskey sour and Shirley would enjoy a martini.
Then, in the fall, when the trees were changing color, we would drive up to the Big Bear in Winter, in the 1967 Chevy Bel Air. Don and Shirley would have the duck and wild rice. Then, on the way back, we would stop and see the big white pine by Hawkins.
Shirley took care of everyone before herself; she was unselfish and very giving, and was a great cook and loved it when she cooked to feed the family, and at gatherings, it was her ribs, hotdish and take leftovers home. She loved to talk to people and find out what was going on with everybody, and most of all, her grandkids and greatgrandkids were the joy of her life! Thank you to all the family members and friends, who visited Shirley over the years, and thank you so much, to the nurses and staff, at the Augusta Nursing Home and Heartland Hospice, for all their care and support.
Shirley and Don were married 63 years, before Don’s passing in March of 2024.
She is survived by her sons – Jeff (Amy) Ramseier and Mitch (Michelle) Ramseier; grandchildren – Shawna (Matt) Gwiazda, Jesse (Stacy) Ramseier, Parker and Wyatt Ramseier; six beautiful great-grandchildren; a brother – Sam (Nancy) Kuhnert; and by many nieces; nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband – Don; her son – Scott; parents – Harold and Edith “Ida” Kuhnert; sisters – Delores (Wayne) Meyer and Charlotte (Jim) Knitter; brothers – Ron (Carol) Kuhnert and Peter (Diane) Kuhnert; and a nephew – John Meyer.
Shirley was a great wife, mother, grandma, sister and a very caring person, who will be deeply missed.
She is with Don and Scott now, taking care of them. Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 11, from noon to 2 p.m., with a memorial service at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Robert Hopkins officiating, at Leiser Funeral Home in Cadott.
Inurnment will be in the Brooklawn Cemetery in Cadott, followed by a lunch at the St. John’s Lutheran Church fellowship hall in Cadott.
