Douglas “Skip” Fischer

Douglas 'Skip' Fischer, 84, Marshfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024, at Marshfield Medical Center.

A memorial service to celebrate Skip's life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2024, at Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation beginning at 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Pastor Andrew Belt will officiate.

Douglas was born on Nov. 14, 1940, to Raymond and Betty (Schofield) Fischer. A dedicated and hardworking man, he spent his career as a truck driver, a role he faithfully carried out until his well-earned retirement.

Skip was a man of simple pleasures and rich relationships. He was an avid reader with a particular love for Western novels but was known to immerse himself in any book that caught his eye. His happiest moments were spent outdoors, savoring cookouts and time by the camper with his family, and watching his great-grandchildren ride their bikes. A lover of houseplants and classic country music - Hank Williams was often the soundtrack to his days.

Skip's legacy lives on through his children, Michael (Wendy) and Toni; and his beloved grandchildren: Jeff, Greg (Alyssa), Trent (Emily), Erick, Trey (Britni) and Colten (Alana). He was also a proud great-grandfather to Bray den, Madisyn, Addyline, Elaina, Rylee, Brieah, Anna and Silas.

He was survived by his brother, Rodney, and sister, Penny. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Betty Fischer; his brother, Walter Lee; and his sister, Doll.

The Fischer family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the ICU staff and palliative care team at Marshfield Medical Center for their exceptional care and compassionate support.

Skip's memory will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
