All invited to Community Christmas Dinner
The central Wisconsin community is invited to attend and/or volunteer at the 22nd annual Community Christmas Dinner. This event will be held at York Center United Methodist Church on County Highway K on Dec. 25. The church is about 2 miles south of the H and K intersection, about 4 miles north of Granton, and about 0.5 mile south of the C and K intersection.
The dinner will begin with a welcome and prayer, with serving beginning at noon. On the menu will be ham, potatoes, dressing, corn, green bean casserole, salads, dinner rolls, coffee, milk and desserts. Carryout dinners will be available after 12:30 p.m. To make a reservation for a larger group, sign up to volunteer or for any questions, call 715-937-0144. Please leave a message.
Volunteers are being sought to help with food prep, cooking, serving the meal and cleanup. Volunteer shifts include 9-11 a.m., 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 1-3 p.m. the day of the event.
“Any help would be greatly appreciated!” event coordinator Lori Rowe wrote in a press release.
There will be a freewill offering taken at the dinner to support the York Center UMC Mission Team for projects for the upcoming year. Monetary donations for the meat, as well as donations of salads, desserts/cookies and volunteer time will also be graciously accepted.
“The Community Christmas Dinner was started in 2001 as a love offering very near and dear to Fern Rowe’s heart, as a place where the community could come together to enjoy good food and fellowship,” wrote Lori Rowe.
She and the rest of Fern’s family and friends continue the dinner as a way to honor Fern’s legacy. They hope you will consider being a part of this event.
