American Legion honors community serivice
American Legion Certificates of Commendation were presented to several members of the Emergency Services community at the December 11th meeting of the Medford American Legion Post 147.
Rod Balciar has served as a Volunteer Fireman for more than 40 years with the Medford Area Fire Department. He has held captain positions, is instrumental in truck and equipment maintenance, and spends much of his free time working on fire department equipment. He is an outstanding, dedicated, and extremely knowledgeable member of the department.
Mike Filas is an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician who has been running with Taylor County Ambulance Service and MedEvac for 34 plus years. Mike is always willing to come in to help with back up calls, sick calls, and if help is ever needed. Mike is very community driven with the Ambulance and with the Fire Department. Mike has trained many people over the years and is a very dependable and knowledgeable crew member.
Sarrah Serrano has been the Administrative Assistant for the Medford Police Department for 11 years. Prior to her current position, she worked as a Correctional Officer and Dispatcher for the Taylor County Sheriff's Office for thirteen years. She is a 2000 graduate of Northcentral Techincal College with a degree in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement. Sarah plays a valuable role in the daily operations of the department, including answering phones and directing calls, organizing case files, working with attorneys and other officials, processing motor vehicle titling and registration, preparing crime data reporting, and preparing records requests.
