10 Years Ago – 2014 Renaming Cornell’s airport is a possibility or at least, shortening it, based on a request from Ken Mc-Intyre. McIntyre believes that GPS is “messed up” by entering the current name electronically.

20 Years Ago – 2004 It’s nowhere near election time, but with the resignation of Timothy Poppe from the Cadott Village Board, a replacement has to be found to fill the remainder of the trustee term.

30 Years Ago – 1994 Cornell’s Fire Department volunteer responders will be summoned in a more efficient matter, when all the firemen are equipped with pagers. The pagers will be compatible with the county’s 911 equipment, it’s only a matter of programming them that way.

40 Years Ago – 1984 In order to get $796,000 worth of funding for a Community Development Block Grant next year, Cadott has to apply to receive the money and pick a housing plan. Ken Mc-Adams, of KBM, is looking at possible sites for a project.

50 Years Ago – 1974 When students step out of line, there’s an eightstep series of disciplinary actions at Lake Holcombe School, taken for various violations. Based on minor and major infractions, students will then be subject to the discipline measures.

60 Years Ago – 1964

70 Years Ago – 1954 Dugal Oil Co. and Seichter’s Shell Service in Cadott, are broken into by robbers, but little is taken, except some merchandise and loose change. Reports indicate a suspicious vehicle in the vicinity of the businesses, but no concrete evidence has come to light. 100 Years Ago – 1924 Victor Mertz, Cornell, is part of a never-forgotten experience, when he was escorting his mother-inlaw, Mrs. Andrews, from Minneapolis, Minn., where she was in a hospital. On his way to catch his own train, a coach car broke loose and plunged from the tracks into the Chippewa River when crossing a bridge.
