Steven Ward
Steven D. Ward, 68, Loyal, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024, surrounded by his family at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal, with Rev. Barry Saylor and Rev. Emmanuel Famiyeh concelebrating the mass. Burial will follow in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
Steven Dean Ward was born on Aug. 15, 1956, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Lynn A. and Irene A. (McBride) Ward. His family moved to Greenwood in 1965, and settled in Loyal in 1967, where he graduated from Loyal High School in 1975. After high school, Steve became employed at Stewart’s Redville Dairy in Greenwood. He was united in marriage to Jeanne L. Bauer on Jan. 19, 1980 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. After Stewart’s Redville Dairy closed in the early 1980s, Steve went to work at Land O’Lakes, in Spencer, until retiring in 2021.
He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Teamsters Local #662, and was very active in the Loyal Jaycees.
Steve had many interests, but especially loved spending time with his family and friends, hunting, playing cards, the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badger football, the Milwaukee Brewers, traveling and camping at David and Rita’s.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Jeanne, of Loyal; his children: Brian (Kaci Kleinhans) of Eau Claire and Kristi Primc of Marshfield; four grandchildren: Maranda (Erica), Nathan, Calista and Ciara; two step-grandchildren: Ethan and Mason; two brothers: Tim (Sandy) Ward of Virginia, Minn., and Phillip Ward of Eau Claire; four sisters: Judy Ward of Eau Claire, Rita (David) Jackson of Greenwood, Alice (Kevin) Clairmont of Eau Claire and Vicky (Shawn) Shelton of Marshfield; one sister-in-law, Aon Ward of Thornton, Colo.; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his father; two brothers: Randy and Albert “Gene” Ward; and his daughter-in-law, Jenn Ward.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given in Steve’s name to Loyal Fire & Ambulance.
