Evelyn Nowak

Evelyn Eleanore Nowak (Stankowski), 92, Marshfield, passed away peacefully Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, in the comfort of her home with family.

She was born on February 22, 1932, in Gallaway, daughter of the late Frank and Julianna (Goskowicz) Stankowski. On October 8, 1950, she was united in marriage to Henry Nowak. He preceded her in death on October 9,2002.

Eveyln began her career as a nurses aide taking care of others, to caring for her own family of fifteen children, along with doing farm and field work. Her life was marked by her kindness, generosity and strong faith. Evelyn had many pastimes, she enjoyed her concertina and card clubs, bowling, gardening, canning, crocheting, baking and cooking countless meals. No one ever went away hungry.

Survivors include five daughters: Elaine Petrowski, Susan (Steven) Wiesneski, Rosalie Hagie, Betty (Jeff) Harmon and Sarah Schneider; ten sons: Walter (Donna) Nowak, Mark (Jenny) Nowak, Arthur (Kate) Nowak, Louis Nowak (deceased), Alan (Lori) Nowak, Duane (Lisa) Nowak, Philip (Kristen) Nowak, Charles (Liz) Nowak, Richard (Lisa) Nowak and Frederick (Patti) Nowak; thirty-six grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; forty-nine great-grandchildren, one step greatgrandchild, one great-great-grandchild and four great-grandchildren to be born in the coming months; one sister, Virginia Falkowski and one brother, Dominic Stankowski.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Louis Nowak and one grandson, Aaron Nowak, and ten siblings: sisters Sally Waytasik and Joanna Stankowski and brothers Vincent Stankowski, Sylvester Stankowski, Alex Stankowski, Leo Stankowski, Edwin Stankowski, Severin Stankowski, Ted Stankowski and Ernest Stankowski.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon on Friday, Dec. 6, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in the Village of Edgar. Rev. Alan P. Wierzba will preside. She will be laid to rest in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau, Marathon County. Family and friends are invited to gather for a time of visitation at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
