Nor dean Zimmer mann
Nordean Elsie (Fietz) Zimmermann, 83, of Colby, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 18, 2024.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, at Christ Lutheran Church in Abbotsford. The Reverend Don Bruce will preside. Family and friends are welcome at 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment to follow the service. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home of Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.
Nordean was born on February 1, 1941, the daughter of Vernard and Alma Lehr Feitz Rohde in Neshkoro. She was baptized in Lohrville. Nordean graduated from Westfield High School and Patricia Stevens Business School in Milwaukee.
On April 25, 1959 Nordean was united in marriage to Roy Zimmermann. Together they had two sons, Curtis and Gene. Nordean and Roy farmed together in Fox Lake. After retirement from farming, Nordean was employed at Jung Seed Company in Randolph for 20 years; she excelled at her job due to her love of flowers and gardening.
In her youth Nordean enjoyed snowmobiling, waterskiing and traveling. She often proudly told the story of how she personally was able to deliver cheese to Johnny Cash. Nordean retained a special place in her heart for Elvis as well. In her “snowbird” era she loved traveling to Florida, and especially loved when her grandchildren came to visit and dragged her to theme parks.
In her later years Nordean was passionate about feeding her chickens, cats and skunks that she unwittingly lured in at her son Gene’s farm where she resided the last few years. Her love for gardening and growing flowers never faded, she also supplied family and friends with canned goodies. Nordean also liked reading, puzzles, bird watching and watching WWE wrestling as she was especially fond of Hulk Hogan. She was most particular about her hair being done “just right” and equated her hair appointment to therapy. Nordean got a kick out of inappropriate mugs that were gifted to her every year as an inside joke. Above all, Nordean cherished spending time with her family.
Nordean is survived by her two sons: Curtis (Sharon) of Fox Lake and Gene (Gwen) of Colby; four grandchildren: Kiersten (Wayne) Hoeg of Colby, Raisha (Bradley) Kolzow of Colby, Ashley Zimmermann of Milwaukee and Meredith Zimmermann of Milwaukee; three great-grandchildren: Davidson Roy Hoeg, Winston Gene Hoeg and Emerald Kolzow; one brother, Arnold( Donna) Rhode of Westfield, as well as numerous step-brothers and stepsisters. She will be missed by her feline companion, Gulliver.
Nordean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy, of 60 years, and siblings: Arden Fietz, Shirley Feakes and Lavila Wedell.
