Cadott takes down pair of teams to begin season

Cadott didn’t pull any punches in their opening week of girls basketball, as the program hosted three teams backto- back-to-back.

Nov. 19 vs. Eleva-Strum non-conference (W 65-62 2 OT)

To begin the season, the Hornets hosted Eleva-Strum, going into halftime down by four points. The game was close throughout and by the end of the second half, was deadlocked, forcing not one, but two overtimes, in which Cadott claimed the victory, 65-62.

Junior Taylor Hager led with a career high 29 points, nine of those from three-point land, followed by junior Kennedy Nerdrum, with 14 points. Senior Brooklyn Hrdlicka came next, with 7, while senior McKenna Steinke had 6 and senior Kasey Moldrem added 4.

Senior Tarynn Donahue finished with 3 points on the night, with junior Lilly Spaeth chipping in with a point.

Nov. 21 vs. Boyceville non-conference (L 50-40)

Up next, was Boyceville, who were outmatched in the first half, but rallied in the second half, holding the Hornets to just 11 points, to take a 50-40 win.

Hager again led, with 12 points, with Hrdlicka and Nerdrum each notching 8, while Moldrem had 6. Spaeth finished with 4 points and Steinke added 2.

Moldrem came up with 9 rebounds, while Hrdlicka and Nerdrum each had 8.

Nov. 22 vs. Prairie Farm non-conference (W 44-15)

To finish out the week, Prairie Farm came to call, but proved no match for the Hornets, scoring just six points in the first half, opposed to Cadott’s 24. The second half was much of the same and Cadott walked away with the game, 44-15.

Donahue took top honors of the night, notching three shots from beyond the arc, ending with 13 points, followed by Moldrem, with 7. Hrdlicka and Steinke were right behind, with 6 each, while Hager, Nerdrum and Spaeth each had 4.
