One vehicle crashes
On September 18 at 3:43 a.m., a vehicle operated by Zachary Klapatauskas, 21, of Rib Lake, was traveling westbound on CTH M in the town of Greenwood. According to the accident report, the driver stated he was on his way home from work and fell asleep at the wheel then crashed into the south ditch of CTH M. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. The driver was cited for operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
On September 27 at 6:35 p.m., a motorcycle driven by Jeffrey Kampe, 67, of Dorchester, was traveling westbound on CTH O as the vehicle approached the intersection of CTH O and Hwy 64, Kampe continued westbound into the ditch. While entering the ditch, the motorcycle sustained disabling damage. Kampe was transported by ambulance to Aspirus Medford Hospital and Clinics.
On September 15 at 1:39 a.m., a vehicle operated by Ryne Giencke, 20, of Eau Claire, was driving northbound on CTH M in the town of Grover. When he approached a curve in the roadway, the operator did not negotiate the curve and ended up driving into the ditch before he struck a tree. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Giencke was cited for failure to keep vehicle under control and operating while under the influence.
Two vehicle crashes
On September 24 at 3:58 p.m., Medford police were dispatched to 1010 N. 8th St. to speak with Cristi Myers of Athens, who noticed damage to the front of her vehicle. She believed it was caused while parked at 1015 W. Broadway Ave. (Medford Area Senior High School). On September 15, video footage was reviewed and Broden Schilling, 16, of Medford, was spoken to regarding the incident. On September 24, the Myers vehicle was legally parked facing southbound. The Schilling vehicle was in the parking space immediately south of Myers and facing it in a northerly direction. The Myers vehicle was unoccupied and the Schilling vehicle drove forward, pushing the Myers vehicle approximately 10 feet and causing damage to the front end of the Myers vehicle. According to the report, Schilling attempted to speak with the school resource officer regarding this, but the officer had already left. When he returned, Meyers had already left the scene. Schilling stated he thought he had the vehicle in reverse, but the vehicle was actually in drive. There was minor damage to the Schilling vehicle and functional damage to the Myers vehicle.
On September 13 at 4:46 p.m., a vehicle operated by Virgil Tingley, 71, of Rib Lake, was traveling eastbound on CTH D in the town of Westboro when it ran off the right side of the road. Tingley’s vehicle then struck a vehicle owned by Jane Schneider which was legally parked and unattended in the driveway at W4945 CTH D, Westboro. The Tingley vehicle never stopped and continued east on CTH D. A witness followed the Tingley vehicle into Rib Lake. It then turned onto Hwy 102 and headed toward Spirit Lake and the witness stopped following. A night shift deputy made contact with Tingley and he stated he swerved to miss a deer and knew he hit something, but did not stop to see what it was. Both vehicles received functional damage. Tingley was cited for hit and run of an unattended vehicle.
Car vs. deer
On September 25 at 6:30 a.m., a vehicle operated by Alissa Ruppel, 23, of Rib Lake, struck a deer while traveling eastbound on CTH M in the town of Greenwood, receiving functional damage.
On September 25 at 2:10 a.m., a vehicle operated by Bryce Volla, 19, of Deerfield, struck a deer while traveling southbound on CTH E in the town of Holway, receiving functional damage.
On September 23 at 5:45 a.m., a vehicle operated by Kyle Laska, 38, of Westboro, struck a deer while traveling eastbound on Hwy 64 in the town of Goodrich, receiving functional damage.
On September 22, at 7:54 p.m., a vehicle operated by Richard Voelker, 81, of Abbotsford, struck a deer while traveling eastbound on CTH O in the town of Little Black, receiving minor damage.
On September 20, at 9:56 p.m., a vehicle operated by Garett Krug, 36, of Medford, struck a deer while westbound on CTH D in the town of Westboro, receiving functional damage.
On September 20, at 6:25 a.m., a vehicle operated by John Stankowski, 69, of Mosinee, struck a deer while traveling westbound on CTH O in the town of Holway, receiving functional damage.
On September 17, at 9 p.m., a vehicle operated by Steven Pavlow, 72, of Wausau, struck a deer while westbound on CTH O in the town of Browning, and was towed due to disabling damage.
