Area runners fly at twilight in Nightfall Classic

In what has become an annual event, runners from approximately 26 area schools gathered at RiverEdge Golf Course just outside of Marshfield last Friday night to join in the Nightfall Classic. The schools were divided into two divisions based on the enrollment of each school. Clark County teams participating included Loyal-Greenwood (LG) and Neillsville-Granton (NG).

LG saw seven runners participate. Coming in 23rd place out of 144 participants in the small division girls’ race was Summer Smith, with a time of 21:34.9. Bailey Eckes took 82nd place with a time of 24:37.9. Noelle Teschner was 90th with a time of 25:20.2.

One-hundred sixty-five runners participated in the small division boys’ race. Andrew Lavengood had the fastest time of the LG boys, taking 41st place with a time of 18:39.1. His teammate Lucas Nielsen took 73rd place with a time of 19:28.5. Next was Lincoln Smith, who finished in 148th place with a time of 23:57.6. Mason Kohnert took 155th place with a time of 25:46.

Neither the LG boys nor the girls had enough runners to register a team score.

Neillsville-Granton On the boys’ side, Will Drinka took 68th place with a time of 19:23.2. Hunter Schultz was not far behind him, finishing 79th with a time of 19:42.4. Gabe Sheikh had a time of 22:59.3, good for 139th place. Jeremiah Dorshorst was close on his heels, finishing in 142nd place with a time of 23:16.1. Koltin Luchterhand placed 150th at 24:58.5. Right after him was Sebastian Whiting-O-Keefe, who placed 151st with a time of 25:04.3. The NG boys took 16th out of 16 teams with 439 points. Phillips won the meet with only 78 points.

Chloe Kayhart was the first of the NG girls to reach the finish line. She took 109th with a time of 26:37. After her was Haylee Schultz, who placed 115th with a time of 27:18.8. Scotlyn Hericks took 131st place with a time of 31:56.6. Afew places after her was Hannah Dorshorst, who took 136th place with a time of 33:29. The NG girls did not have enough runners to register a team score.
