One of Charles Pitzke’s Holstein cows, from the Deer Creek Center Stock Farm took fifth place in the aged cow class at the Wisconsin State Fair last week.

50 Years Ago September 5, 1974 School District To Reveal Plans For Construction

Voters in the Rib Lake School district will hear a detailed explanation for a proposed expansion of facilities at a special meeting to be held in the senior high school gym tonight, Thursday, at 8 o’clock. The special session, at which the board of education’s long range planning committee and a citizens advisory committee, will present their views, was authorized at the annual meeting in July.

September 1, 1999 Medford Chamber of Commerce moves headquarters to Main Street

The Medford Chamber of Commerce recently completed a move into the renovated former Public Library building at the south end of Main Street. With the library moving to new facilities at the north end of the street earlier this year, it seems only fitting that the Chamber offices continue the sense of community established by the library.

A new reporter has joined the ranks at The Star News. Bryan Wegter, an Antigo native, has been added as an additional sports reporter, focusing on local sports in the Medford-Abbotsford area. While sports will be the main focus of his time, he will also be working on many different areas of the paper, and in many different capacities.
