One Vehicle Accident
On September 14, at 3:53 p.m., a motorcycle driven by Henry Hollister, 63, of Strum was eastbound on CTH A, west of Wren Dr., when a deer ran out in front of the motorcycle. Hollister was unable to avoid striking the deer. The strike caused Hollister to crash, which caused damage to the right and left sides. Hollister complained of some pain and stiffness. He advised that he would be going to get medical care on his own. The motorcycle was towed from the scene due to disabling damage.
On September 14, a vehicle driven by Robert Kollwelter, 71 of Kirkland, Illinois, was eastbound on CTH D when it left the roadway and entered the north ditch. Kollwelter was able to drive back out of the ditch but his vehicle sustained disabling damage. Kollwelter advised that he fell asleep while driving and it is suspected that he was under the influence of alcohol. Kollwelter was cited for operating while under the influence.
On September 23, at 3:46 p.m., Monica Danen, 79, of Medford was leaving a parking space at 135 S Gibson St. Danen was parked facing southbound before she turned left, driving eastbound through other empty parking spaces. Danen stated that she sneezed, causing her foot to slip on the gas. This caused her to drive forward into a light pole. The front of Danen’s car made contact with the light pole, causing functional damage. There were no apparent injuries as a result of the accident.
On September 23, at 5:25 p.m., a vehicle driven by Janice Scheelk, 78, of Dorchester was traveling eastbound in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Scheelk made a left turn, traveling northbound, the left front side of Scheelk’s vehicle then made contact with the “row 2” sign pole and scraped against it. This caused functional damage to the left side front, middle and rear of Scheelk’s vehicle. Scheelk was attempting to turn into a parking space on the other side of the pole and stated she was only looking at the space, failing to see where the pole was. There were no injuries as a result of the accident.
