Candy Cosgrove, 57, of Westboro, was found guilty due to a no contest plea of operating left of center and was ordered to pay $213.10. She was also found guilty due to a no contest plea of hit and run to property adjacent to a highway and was ordered to pay $263.50. Charges of failure to keep vehicle under control and failure of operator to notify police of an accident were dismissed on a prosecutor’s motion.

Richard E. Vervaecke, 81, of Freeport, Ill., was found guilty due to no contest pleas for charges of first degree sexual assault of a child, first degree child sex assault - sexual contact or sexual intercourse with a person under age of 13 and fourth degree sexual assault. A charge of fourth degree sexual assault was dismissed but read in for sentencing purposes. Court orders a withheld sentence and places Vervaecke on probation for 4 years with the following conditions. On count 1 only, Vervaecke is to serve one year of county jail with Huber privileges, but no good time. Court orders that Vervaecke register as a sex offender, pay the court costs on each count, provide a DNA sample and pay the surcharge on each count. Vervaecke is to have no contact with A.J.V and D.L.M., Counseling as deemed appropriate by the probation agent, Vervaecke is to write an apology to the victims at the discretion of the probation agent, and probation will work with the victims to determine when or if they would like the apology. Jail time may be served in any county as long as it is at no extra cost to Taylor County and the transfer is approved by the Sheriff. Jail time shall begin by August 12, 2023 no later than 4:30pm. Supervision can be transferred to another county or to Illinois if it is statutorily allowed. Vervaecke was ordered to pay fines and fees totaling $1,479.

Christian Allen, 20, of Medford pled not guilty to charges of bail jumping - misdemeanor and disorderly conduct.

Kristopher Gubser, 18, of Medford pled not guilty to possession of THC.

Yolanda Sanders, 53, of West Bend, pled not guilty to battery.
