Dr. John Itnyre, a physician specializing in obstetrics and gynecology, has recently joined the medical staff of Memorial Health Center in Medford. Board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Itnyre has over 30 years experience providing exceptional health care to women. As an OB/GYN, Itnyre specializes in the treatment of women before, during and after pregnancy, and in caring for women’s reproductive health. His longest tenure was at Medical Arts Group in Cadillac, Mich. for 18 years and after that at Women’s Health Specialists in Cadillac for 11 years.

Last week, the County Board’s Finance Committee unanimously approved using $6,000 from the Taylor County CIP (Crime Investigation and Prevention) Fund to help purchase a police dog, which was also approved by the Law Enforcement Committee. The dog will be trained for drug searches, officer protection, aggressive or passive tracking, and building and area searches.

Midway Telephone Co., Medford, has been granted authority by the state public service commission to upgrade and improve its toll facilities, it was announced Monday by Lawrence Ware, manager of the company. “Midway Telephone intends to replace the existing open wire toll facilities, now owned by Wisconsin Telephone Co., with buried cable and carrier facilities within its Medford, Stetsonville, and Dorchester exchange boundaries,” Ware said. He said the buried cable will extend a distance of 26 route miles, to better protect the system against storm and accidental damage.

A. J. Cunningham, supervisor from the third ward in Medford, was elected chairman of the county highway committee at a meeting of committee members held last Thursday afternoon. Other members of the committee are William Diels, Hammel; Ed McVicker, Jump River. The new chairman and Diels were re-elected to the committee at the county board session last Wednesday at which time McVicker was chosen to replace Albert Skalecki, former chairman. The retiring chairman was not a candidate as he is no longer a member of the board.

November 30, 1922
The Peter Lites pool hall was entered Sunday night and robbed of $5.00 in cash and a small amount of merchandise, including some package candy. Entrance was secured by breaking the glass from the front door and crawling through the opening. Riverside Hotel people stated next day that they heard a noise at about 12:30 which was probably the breaking of the glass. It is not known who was the thief.

The Y.M.S.C. dance at Opera hall Thanksgiving night was one of the most pleasant events of the kind ever held in this city. The attendance was not large owing to the snow storm, which raged all night, and which was somewhat in the nature of a blizzard. However, the receipts were sufficiently large to defray the expenses, and “the boys” were satisfied. The music supplied by Hobbs’ orchestra was of a high order of excellence, and the supper furnished by St. Mary’s Guild was fully up to usual high standard set by these ladies on all such occasions.
