Grace A. Gutenberger, age 88, of Colby, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at the Marshfield Medical Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Parish in Colby on Saturday, May 27, 2023. Interment to follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Father Joseph Redfern will preside. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Colby is entrusted with the arrangements.

Grace was born on February 13, 1935, the daughter of Joseph and Lucille (Bartnik) Miller in Marshfield. She graduated from Dorchester High School. On April 13, 1955, Grace was united in marriage to James Gutenberger. He preceded her in death in 2007. Together they farmed in the Town of Colby.

Grace enjoyed bird watching, baking and the Packers. She also sewed all of her children’s clothes when they were little. She baked her own bread, grew a big garden, and canned a lot of fruits and vegetables. She worked hard to keep everyone fed, clothed, and was the best at it. Grace enjoyed all the visits from the grandkids and loved them very much. Most importantly, Grace loved and cherished her family. Grace will truly be missed by all who loved her.

Grace is survived by her seven children: Mike, Dan (Rhonda), Bill, Carol (Mark) Bauman, Nancy, Craig (Anna) and Ron; 12 grandchildren: Kelly, Kari, Krystal, Daya, Jenny (Todd), Amanda (Steve), Lauren, Nicole, Brady, Chase, Hailey and Maggie; eight great-grandchildren: Weston and Will, Mattea, Brenden and Hunter, Titon, Frankie and Isaac and great-great-grandbabies: Elouise and a baby on the way. She is further survived by five sisters: Elaine (Jim) Hiebl, Dorothy (Ed) Broeske, Mary Ann (Larry) Paul, Loretta (Jerry) Fialkowski and Jean Korb; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; daughter, Rebecca and four brothers: Louis, Joe, Jimmy and Leonard.
