Wisconsin’s 194 member-owned credit unions are being honored with a Corporate Citizenship Award— recognizing community involvement—from Corporate Report Wisconsin magazine. The accolade comes amid celebration of the International Year of Cooperatives, Co-op Month and the approach of International Credit Union Day, October 18. “Because credit unions have no stockholders—just members who use their locallyowned financial co-op to borrow and save at better rates—they are beholden only to their members and communities,” said Wisconsin Credit Union League president and CEO Brett Thompson.

The new town of Aurora is making an enviable record in the way of building a large amount of good roads for a small sum of money. Chairman F. W. Manuel informs us that they turnpiked two and one-half miles of road in excellent shape for less than $400 the past summer. This is not only a record-breaker in the cost of construction, but the new road gives the citizens of that town an outlet to either Cadott, Stanley or Boyd, and they are naturally very highly pleased.
