Hanson, Oestrich, Gumz win Colby school board seats

The votes are in and incumbent Teri Hanson will return to the Colby School board along with newcomers Lony Oestrich and Cody Gumz, who beat out incumbent Todd Schmidt and Tonya Geiger. Todd Schmidt will return to the city council where he ran unopposed for ward 2. Jim Schmidt had no opposition and will return as Colby’s mayor. Ward 1 had 5 write-in votes; Jessica Decker was declared the winner with 3 votes. Ward 3 had 12 write-in; votes Nancy O’Brien will retain her seat with 5 votes.

The Abbotsford School Referendum asking voters to approve $1,500,000 for construction of a building addition to add classrooms, a gymnasium, and flexible space passed by a large margin, 333 yes to 147 no.

Sharon Archambo and Gary Schraufnagel will return to the Abbotsford School Board. All four Abbotsford City Council candidates ran unopposed: ward 1 will be represented by Jan Morales, ward 2 Jeremiah Zeiset, ward 3 Roger Weideman and Ward 4 Selina Espino.

The Village of Dorchester voters chose trustees Thomas Carter, Julie Goldschmidt and Daniella Schauer.

The Village of Curtiss voted in trustees Jonathan Unruh and Sheila Tomas.

Dean Schilling and Joshua Bauer will represent the Village of Unity as Trustees.

The Clark County Supervisor election had a number of local contested races. In district 1 Challenger Kathy Brodhagen beat out incumbent Kevin Flink by 15 votes. In District 2 the write-in candidate Annette Molitor won with 43 votes. Incumbent Gary Leichtman, who did not file to run for re-election, received 19 write –in votes.

District 10 incumbent Bryce Luchterhand lost to challenger Jeff Kolzow by 52 votes.

District 3 supervisor Fred Schindler, District 4 supervisor Tom Wilcox and District 16 supervisor Wayne Hendrickson all ran unopposed and will return to the board.

In Marathon County Board of Supervisor District 30 election newcomer Andrew Venzke beat incumbent Richard Gumz by 72 votes. Rick Cveykus won the Circuit Court Judge Branch 2 votes by a large margin over challenger William Harris.
