Forestry and parks announces open trails

The Clark County Forestry and Parks Department has announced the opening of county outdoor properties and trails, along with some reminders as recreational opportunities get underway.

All county campgrounds and boat landings are open for the season. In addition, the Clark County ATV/UTV trails will open early this spring, at 8 a.m. on Friday, May 10.

'Please use caution while riding the trails. There are still rough areas and some cleanup and trail grading is still taking place. Logging is active in the county forest and trucks will be hauling,' wrote parks and program manager Nate Beaver in a May 2 press release.

'Be on the lookout for a town road closure due to road construction in the next couple of weeks on Bruce Mound Avenue between County Highway B and intersection 5. The alternate route will be on County Highway B to intersection 6. Riders are reminded to stay on the trail, obey all signs and to please ride responsibly.'

Knobby Ridge Motorcycle Trails will also open at 8 a.m. this Friday, May 10.

'Logging is active in the county forest and trucks will be hauling, so please be cautious of equipment,' wrote Beaver.

Wild Rock horse trails and Levis/Trow Mound trails are currently open.

Street legal motorcycles, driven by licensed drivers, are allowed on theATV/UTV trail system. Non-street legal motorcycles are not allowed on the ATV/UTV trail system and may only be ridden on the Knobby Ridge Motorcycle Trails.
