three doubles. Taylor Shaw bunted for a one-out hit and stole second base. Weissmiller’s first hit drove in both runners and he eventually scored on Mudgett’s single to make it 3-2.
The wheels completely fell off for Westboro in the third.
Delzer singled and Karaba doubled off starting pitcher Taylor Brayton to start the decisive rally. Delzer scored on Brent Mueller’s infield single. Shaw blooped a single into shallow right to load the bases for Weissmiller, who reached on an error to drive in a run. A throwing error on a ball hit by Austin Davies scored two. After Brayton struck out Ryan Paul, an error on a ball hit by Mudgett re-loaded the bases. Brayton struck out Woebbeking, but the Trojans misplayed a grounder hit by Delzer, allowing two more runs to score, making it 9-2.
Delzer greeted Wiegel with a solo homer to lead off the bottom of the sixth. Karaba doubled in a run and Weissmiller singled in one more in the eighth to end the game early.
Marcus Klemm and Niemi each went two for four to lead Westboro offensively. The Trojans had runners on the corners with one out in the sixth when Karaba got Schreiber to hit into a 6-4-3 double play. Runners were on first and second with one down in the seventh when Freeman hit a grounder right to Delzer at third base, who easily turned a 5-3 twin killing. Wiegel reached on an error to lead off the top of the eighth, but Niemi’s bouncer went right to Woebbeking, Medford’s shortstop, right at second base, who easily got Niemi to complete that double play.
Medford hopes to keep the momentum rolling with a key game at 3-4 Tomahawk Saturday at 6 p.m. Wesbtoro hosts Merrill Sunday at 1:30 p.m. The Rangers entered Wednesday’s game with Everest tied with the Merchants for first place in the league standings at 4-1.
