ballot. After incumbent President Pauline Frome decided not to seek a new 2-year term, current Village Trustee Harry Toufar filed paperwork to seek the position. He is the only candidate for the post. Also running unopposed in Spencer are incumbent Trustees Jeremy Carolfi, Bill Hoes and Tom Schafer.

In the city of Loyal, first-term Mayor Carmen Englebretson is running unopposed for a second 2-year term. The city will also have an election for four City Council positions, but only three candidates are running. In Ward 1, incumbent Betty Gluch-Voss is not seeking re-election, but no one has expressed interest in seeking the seat. That seat will be filled either by a writein selection or appointment by the mayor and Council. Incumbents who are on the ballot are Curtiss Lindner in Ward 1 and Kris Schultz and Greg Brock in Ward 2.

In the city of Greenwood, there will be at least one new City Council member elected on April 6, and possibly two. Incumbent Doug Schlough is not running for a new term for the Council’s at-large seat, and Dave Hansen is the lone candidate to file for it. For a Ward 1 position, incumbent Travis Petke, who was appointed to the seat last year, will now be challenged for it by Deanna Jordan. All area townships will also conduct elections for chairmen, supervisors, clerks and treasurers. See the ballot insert in this week’s issue for listings of all the candidates.
