The Loyal School District’s Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter and family and consumer sciences (FACS) department have been busy with lots of projects to improve their skills, in the home and in the business world.

Top right and bottom right: The FCCLA’s monthly ice cream sale was once again a success. Nearly $250 was raised, which will be donated to the Loyal Food Pantry to help offset operational expenses. The FCCLA held a sale each month this year, with two more left. Our FCCLA chose the food pantry as our local priority project.

Top left: Loyal had 20 members participate in the Regional Competitive Events on Feb 21. Eleven members qualified to compete at state conference April 8-10. Members have been busy making adjustments as recommended by regional evaluators, and can’t wait to hear how they did. The top two entries at state will be selected to compete at National Conference this summer. To right and below: The seventh grade Exploring FACS class helped out with the band fundraiser at the CTE/Fine Arts Night on March 26. Students helped select colors and designs, then did the cutting and tying to finish six tie blankets. Over $350 was raised from just the quilts. Baking and Pastry class and Foods 2 also made baked goods donated to the bake sale.

Below left: FCCLA members provided manpower for the annual Legion Awards Dinner. The six young people waited on tables and cleaned up after the meal. It’s a service project our members have really enjoyed. Members assisting this year were (from left) Parker Smith, Tryn Scheel, Hope Peroshek, Molly Zvolena, Sam Lathrop and Stefany Degenhardt.
