ATHENS Dinner and a concert

Friday Night Dinner by the gazebo will be hosted by Athens Area Youth Baseball this Friday, July 12. The menu will consist of pulled pork sandwiches, hot ham and cheese sandwiches, pickle, chips, soda, water and pie. Serving will start at 4:30 p.m. and go until the concert is over. The Old Timers concert will start at 7:30 p.m. In the event of rain, dinner and the concert will move to the shelter at Memorial Park.

Backpack Buddies

Kids and tweens who love stringing beads can drop in at the Athens Branch Library to create a beaded dragonfly or other animal creation any time during regular business hours the week of July 15-20. Jobe Miller has graduated from UW-Stout in Menomonie with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.

Evan Neigum and Maleah Redmann have been both earned bachelor’s degrees in animal science from UW-River Falls. Redmann graduated summa cum laude, which is designated for students who maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher. Neigum graduated cum laude, which indicates that a student maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher.

Jaye Zastrow has been named to the spring 2024 dean’s list at Carthage College in Kenosha. Dean’s list honors are accorded to Carthage students who achieve a minimum 3.5 grade-point average while carrying at least 12 lettergraded credits in a given semester.

M ARATHON Main Street Music

Christy Ann, whose repertoire includes classic country and original songs, will perform Tuesday, July 16, from 6-8 p.m., at Marathon City Heritage Center Park, 301 Main St. Hosted by Marathon City 2020 Ltd., the Main Street Music concert series is a family-friendly event featuring local musicians. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for sale, and t-shirts and 50/50 raffle tickets will be sold to support the operating expenses of the Heritage Center.

Summer LEGO Party

Farmers market
