Curtiss, Pleasant Hill vote no for school merger

An almost unanimous decision against annexing the Curtiss state Graded School District to the Owen or Abbotsford High School district was registered Thursday evening when voters of the Curtiss district rejected the proposal 79 to 1, at a special meeting.

High pressure salesmen at work in the community

It has come to the attention of the Chamber of Commerce that encyclopedia and book salesmen are going through the community and that the methods employed by the salesmen are high pressure and misleading. The chamber cautions the community against signing any contracts.

Art Weideman honored at banquet

TheArthur Weideman family, ruralAbbotsford, has made a family farm succeed. The Weidemans were honored as this year’s “Outstanding Area Farmers” at a banquet in St. Bernard’s Church Hall which marked the opening of the 1974 four day Abbotsford Dairy Days celebration.

Abbotsford-Colby Chief of Police John Nelson said Tuesday that drastic measures would be taken to eliminate the problem of dogs running at large in both Abbotsford and Colby.

Athletic master plan proposed for Colby

A committee will ask the Colby School Board next week to approve a planning process that will look at future athletic and playground needs in the CHS, CMS and Colby El complex.

Work begins on 13

Work is underway on a $1,411,209 resurfacing of an 8.3 mile segment of Wisconsin Highway 13 in Clark and Taylor Counties from Abbotsford to Stetsonville and motorists are asked to slow down in the construction area.

Zion Lutheran breaks ground

Groundbreaking for a new addition was held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church June 13. Money for the $300,000 addition was gathered from grants, donations, fund raising activities and borrowing. The new space will provide additional space for the pre-school and day care.
