Robert F. “Bob” Schmeiser

1934-2024

Robert F. “Bob” Schmeiser, 90, of Medford, died Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Rib Lake Health Services in Rib Lake. A memorial mass will be held at 12 p.m., Friday, May 31 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford with Fr. Patrick McConnell. Military honors will be rendered by the Medford Area Military Honors Team. Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m. Friday at the church.

Bob was born March 8, 1934 in Medford to Frank and Rose (Neubauer) Schmeiser. He grew up in the town of Molitor.

Following school, Bob served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1957.

On May 28, 1958, he married Bernadine Behling, a beautiful young gal he had met at a fishing contest. Their family says she “lured” him in and won the best catch of the day!

Bob was a dairy farmer for most of his life, but he also hauled milk and worked for the coop feed mill in Medford. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and playing horseshoes. He was a member of the Medford VFW Post 5729.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 63 years, Bernadine “Bernie” Schmeiser of Medford; children, Terry Schmeiser of Medford, Ricky (Audra) Schmeiser of Arpin, Kristi (Josh) Strama of Medford; a brother, Gerald Schmeiser of Medford; five grandchildren, Wayne, Cassie, Mikayla, Macie and Hailey; and two great-grandchildren, Carson and Oaklyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Vicki Schmeiser; and a sister-in-law, Patricia Schmeiser.
