Judith (Judy) Nowak Judith (Judy) Nowak

1946-2024

Judith (Judy) Nowak, 78, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024 surrounded by her three daughters, under the care of Wausau Aspirus Palliative Care. A prayer service will be held at the Saint Mary’s of Holway Cemetery, the latter part of June. Judy was born on March 16, 1946 in Medford, to Fred and Myrtle Krug. She graduated from Medford High School. She married Galen Nowak in 1962, and they raised five children.

Judy was always a busy lady. When not working on their dairy farm, you could find her tending bar at Dave’s Steakhouse in Owen, or maybe she was your accountant as she had her own accounting business also. When they sold the farm and moved to Holcombe, she still enjoyed life to the fullest, filling her days out in her shop building all sorts of beautiful crafts, or tending to her flower beds that surrounded their home. She considered “downtime” as drinking coffee on their deck with their neighbors or crocheting.

Judy especially loved the road trips her and Galen took with her sister Marian and Kenny Nernberger. Just three weeks ago, she was telling the story about the Great Waterfall trip up to Superior and of course they always involved checking their luck at a casino.

Judy is survived by her children, John (Karen) Nowak of Medford, Caroline (Jim Taylor, special friend) Nowak of Medford, Lisa (Gary) Kohn of Medford, Joe (Jennifer) Nowak of Owen, Shirley (Waleed Flaifel, special friend) Sova of Medford; sisters, Marian (Kenneth) Nernberger of Medford, Lavonne (Bernard) Dums of Medford; sister-in-law, Juanita Krug of Owen; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Galen; parents, Fred and Myrtle Krug; sister, Charlotte Prell; brothers Keith Krug, David Krug; brother-in-law, Jim Prell; and sister-in-law Joan Krug.

We will always carry your memory in our hearts.
