Juniors named to honor positions Friday night

The choices for Badger Boys’ State and Badger Girls’ State were announced Friday evening. Gerald Pinter and Miss Mary Ann Bush were named for these honors at the High School commencement exercises.

Poppies will be sold by Legion Auxiliary

Friday and Saturday will be Poppy days in Abbotsford. The Auxiliary to the American Legion hopes to make one of these poppies bloom on every lapel and dress, when the volunteer workers of the Hanson-Terrio Post No. 139, will be on the street to sell them.

Abbotsford Chiropractor killed in traffic accident

Dr. Charles Hinke, 74, of Abbotsford, was killed in a traffic accident Sunday, May 12 at 10:30 a.m. at a town road intersection in the town of Unity, Clark County.

Installation service Sunday night for Rev. Robert Swalve

Installation services for Rev. Robert Swalve will be held at the First Presbyterian Church at Abbotsford on Sunday, May 19. Elders participating in the service will be Fred Bobbe, Joanne Adler and Rev. William Dehm.

Abby boys track team take two thirds at invitationals

The Abbotsford boys track team placed third in an eight team field at the Auburndale invitational on May 8. The team then traveled to Edgar Monday night where they placed third as well. Scott Trimner and Pat Scotch took first place in the mile and half mileruns.

Hwy. 29 bypass work gets rolling again

Phase II of the Hwy. 29 bypass of Abbotsford is underway with this season’s agenda devoted to preparing the roadbed that was constructed last year, and laying stretches of concrete on the loop between Colby and Abbotsford.

A Colby School Board committee this week was assigned the task of assessing repair needs at the high school track and making recommendations for repairs and improvements.
