Edgar’s varsity boys and girls track and field squads have a long-standing tradition of having great relay teams that normally place high at the WIAA Division 3 state tournament. This season is no different as Edgar’s boys 4x400-meter relay team attempts to break the school record of three minutes, 26.80 seconds that was set in 2018.

Greg Streit is in his 12th year as Edgar’s varsity head boys and girls track coach. His assistant coaches this season are Andrew Lukasko, Mandy Streit, Nathan Dahl, Tom Normington and Adam Decker.

“We have an amazing staff who works hard and cares about our kids,” Greg Streit said. “I wouldn’t trade this group of coaches for any others in the state. They are amazing people and great coaches.”

Edgar’s top returning boys track and field athletes this season are senior Karter Butt, shot put and relays; senior Teegan Streit, hurdles, relays and jumps; senior Kohlbe Weisenberger, sprints and relays; junior Corey Koeppl, throws; junior Isaac Halama, distance; junior Zander Chenier, throws; junior Austin Schreiber, sprints, relays, pole vault; junior Ty Schnelle, sprints and relays; junior Colby Schowerer, throws; sophomore Tucker Streit, hurdles, relays and jumps; sophomore Maverick Butt, hurdles, relays and jumps; sophomore Dawson Bornheimer, sprints and jumps; sophomore Cade Koch, distance; sophomore Wade Kohl, throws and sophomore Dominic Contreras, sprints and jumps.

“Teegan Streit and Kohlbe Weisenberger are our leaders on the boys side,” Greg Streit said. “Karter Butt, Ty Schnelle, Austin Schreiber and Tucker Streit are very key elements to our success. I can’t say enough good things about these six young men. All of them are excellent people and student athletes.”

Freshmen boys new to the varsity squad this season are Carson Nowak, sprints, relays and high jump; Isaiah Kraft, sprints and relays; Owen Kingsley, throws; Anthony Trawicki, sprints and hurdles; Tyler Schmidt, sprints and pole vault, Caius Higgins, sprints and distance; Kaden Bargender, sprints and throws; Izach Myszka, sprints and jumps; Kennen Van Ornum, sprints, relays and jumps; Carlos Zarate, distance; Wyatt Klockziem, throws and Isaac Socha, distance.

Edgar’s top returning girls track and field athletes this season are senior Brooke Imhoff, sprints, relays and jumps; senior Amelia Gajewski, sprints, relays and jumps; senior Natalie Thompson, distance; senior Kyra Anderson, throws; senior Malana Koehler, sprints, relays and jumps; senior Abigail Borchardt, throws; senior Jade Tarter, distance and throws; senior Lilly Werner, sprints; juniors Addison Trawicki and Mia Stencil, sprints, relays and jumps; sophomore Sam Schmidt, distance and sophomores Kaitlynn Hartnady and Skye Pospyhalla, relays and jumps.

“Malana Koehler, Kyra Anderson and Brooke Imhoff are our girl leaders,” Greg Streit said. “All of them are great kids that are just an absolute joy to coach.”

Freshmen girls new to the varsity team this season are Samantha Schneider, distance; Rachel Burke, sprints, relays and jumps and identical twin sisters Naquene and Makita Ellenbecker in throws.

Greg Streit is excited to see what Edgar’s boys and girls relay teams can accomplish this season.

“Our boys have some very good speed again in all three sprint relays,” he said. “We have some kids who have bought into what we are doing as a team and have become good because of it. It is always exciting to have a chance to make some noise in the tournament series. We have some lofty goals and the way we ran open 400s and 300 hurdles this week makes me excited to try to break some records. Two of my nephews, Karson Butt and Kaleb Hafferman, were on the 4x400-meter relay record team and I know there has been some family banter back and forth with my sons, Teegan and Tucker, along with Kohlbe and Ty wanting to break the record. It will be fun to watch it unfold. Breaking the school record has been on the kids’ radar since last year and why they have put in the work to be able to shoot for it.”

“Come tournament time we will have some decisions to make as we are ranked high with our jumps, high hurdles, low hurdles, 100, 400 and relays. It will be a fun year. This is a great group of senior boys who have been nothing but a joy to coach. Teegan, Kohlbe and Karter have meant a lot to our program and are going to be highly successful adults as they pursue their next step after high school.”

Greg Streit also commented on this year’s Edgar girls track and field squad on how they are doing thus far this season.

“On the girls side, we are also putting in the work,” he said. “We know what we need to do and we are going to do everything we can to get to where we want to be. I am proud of the way our kids are responding to what we have asked them to do. We have a great group of seniors who lead by example and are enjoyable to be around.”
