■ ■ February 25 - An officer was on patrol in Abbotsford and observed a vehicle crossing the center line on East Spruce Street. The vehicle then drifted to the right and was driving on the south sidewalk on West Spruce Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop and before the officer exited their vehicle, the driver exited their vehicle. The officer commanded the driver to go back to the vehicle.

The officer then approached the vehicle and made contact with the driver. The officer detected the strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. The man also had glossy/red eyes and slurred speech. The man said he was heading to a bar in Abbotsford from Curtiss where he lives. The man said he had around six beers and started drinking six hours prior. The man said he did not have insurance and gave his ID to the officer.

While the officer was back in her squad running his information, the man again exited his vehicle. The officer commanded him to go back to the vehicle. The man had no license issued and no prior OWIs according to the Wisconsin Department of Justice system. The man agreed to perform field sobriety tests and consented to a preliminary breath test. The result of the breath test was 0.078. The man was placed under arrest for operating while under the influence and transported to the Colby-Abbotsford Police Department. He was issued citations for operating while under the influence, operating without a valid driver’s license, operating without insurance and unsafe lane deviation. The man was then released to a responsible party.

■ ■ February 26 - Two officers were dispatched to a residence in Abbotsford in reference to an assault that had occurred at a workplace in Curtiss and to help the Clark County Sheriff’s Office in their investigation into the incident. The officers arrived on-scene and knocked on the door. The officers entered the residence and saw a man with a swollen right eye with noticeable bruising. The officers asked the man if he wanted any medical attention, to which he denied, and then asked him to describe what happened. The man said he was cleaning the machines off with a pressure washer at work. The man said while cleaning the machines, he accidentally sprayed a co-worker. The coworker then sprayed him back and was laughing afterwards. The man then told the co-worker to go into the hallway so they could have a chat. The man then grabbed onto his clothing and was shoved up against a wall. The complainant said he was hit with a closed fist five or six times in the face and on top of his head.

The man agreed to fill out a lack of consent form and a voluntary statement. The officers collected the paperwork and left the scene.

■ ■ February 29 - Two officers and a Clark County Deputy went to a residence in Unity to attempt to contact a man who had a felony warrant issued through probation and was a suspect in a burglary case.

The officer arrived and met with two individuals who said the man they were looking for was in the basement of the residence. The officers entered the back door of the trailer, went down the stairs and opened the bottom door, announcing themselves and telling the man to come out.

The man came out of a back room with his hands in the air. The man was placed in handcuffs and was searched. The man had a container with a waxy substance inside of it in his front pocket. The substance was taken into evidence and the man was advised he was under arrest for a warrant. The man’s property was placed in another evidence bag and kept as evidence for the burglary case.

The man was transported to the CAPD for questioning and then transported to the Marathon County Jail.

The substance found on the man was tested and came back positive for THC. The officer forwarded a charge of possession of THC (second offense) to the Clark County District Attorney’s office.

■ ■ February 29 - A CAPD officer and a Clark County Deputy were dispatched to a residence in Abbotsford for a complaint of threats being made. The complainant said his grandkids live in a residence in Abbotsford and their neighbor has been threatening the mother of the man’s grandkids. The complainant said the suspect had been making threats about burning the house down.

The officer arrived and made contact with the mother and her boyfriend. The woman said that earlier that day, the man sent her a text in which he threatened to burn the house. The woman said this was the first time the man had threatened her and asked the officer to speak to the man about the threats and tell him to stop.

The officer made contact with the man at his residence and warned the man about the threats. The man said he understood and the officers cleared from the scene.

■ ■ March 1 - An officer received a call stating that the complainant believed that someone took 10 pills of a prescribed medication. The officers arrived on-scene and met with the complainant who said she had some pain killers from a leg injury and she takes her pills every morning as prescribed. The woman showed the officers her prescription and a sheet of paper showing how many pills to take for each day and when she took them, she would put a check mark down for that day.

The woman said based on the prescription she was missing 10 pills. The woman said on February 28, the maintenance man came to her apartment to install a part on her refrigerator that was broke. The woman said she was aware that the man came on Wednesday and said she was not at her apartment for a majority of the day. The woman said she had kept her medication on top of the bread box which was next to her fridge. The woman suspected the man of taking her medication as he was the only one to have access to the apartment and she had been consistent on taking notes of the days she took medication.

The woman said when she counted her pills on Friday morning, there were three pills in the bottle prior to her taking medication that day. The woman said she initially had not noticed the missing pills on Thursday, however she had dumped her pills out on Friday and noticed the missing medication.

The woman did not want to immediately press charges against the man but wanted the officers to speak with the man about his involvement and let her know about the outcome. The officer agreed to follow up with the maintenance manager.

■ ■ March 3 - An officer was working in Abbotsford and saw a vehicle backing out of a parking spot, stop, indicating to the officer the driver saw the officer’s oncoming vehicle and would wait for the officer to pass before proceeding. The vehicle then drove forwards, while turning to the left, into the next vacant parking spots. As the officer’s patrol squad was parallel to the vehicle, the driver entered North First Street and traveled north. The officer had to move his vehicle into the southbound lane of traffic to avoid the vehicle sideswiping the patrol vehicle. The officer then stopped and allowed the vehicle to travel in front of him. He activated his emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop.

The officer made contact with the driver who said he did not see the officer. The officer could smell the strong odor of intoxicants coming from inside the vehicle. The man said he didn’t have anything to drink as he was picking up someone. The man said he had a beer last night. The man eventually said he had three beers at the bar.

The officer conducted a records check of the man who returned as the registered owner of the vehicle. The man returned with a criminally revoked driving status and two prior OWI related convictions. The officer returned to the man who agreed to take field sobriety tests to ensure he was safe to drive.

After the tests, the man consented to a preliminary breath test. The result of the PBT was 0.200. The man was placed under arrest for operating while under the influence. The man was transported to the CAPD and then to Medford Aspirus Hospital for a chemical test of his blood. The man was issued citations for failure to yield to the right of way from a parked position, operating while under the influence (third offense) and operating while revoked.

The man was released to a responsible party after receiving and completing a Clark County Circuit Court bail/bond form.
