Scouts want helpers to clean up lumber Sunday
The Boy Scout troop committee is asking for workers to help handle lumber and pull nails, Sunday afternoon, weather permitting.

Pool use policy adopted by Abby School Board
The Abbotsford Board of Education held its regular board meeting on Monday evening. Pool safety rules will be posted in the pool area and written copies of the policy statements will be made available to anyone using the pool.
Building referendum topic at Colby School Board meeting
Methods of financing the needed roof project at the Dorchester Elementary School and the upc coming April 2 referendum for a new elementary building at Colby were the prime topics at the Colby School Board of Education meeting Sunday evening.
Hornets are eastern Cloverbelt champs
In the final conference game played at Thorp last Friday night, the Colby Hornets squeaked by the Thorp Cardinals to a 58-57 win on a rebound shot by Brad Ayer and stand alone in the number one spot in the eastern Cloverbelt Division.

Disputed tie-breaker decides Colby’s Academic Excellence scholarship
Shannon Mergen and Tiffani Calmes tied with 4.0 GPAs and a score of 31 on their ACT. The district awarded Mergen with the Academic Excellence Scholarship after the third tie-breaker stated the student with the most classes taken would win the scholarship. Mergen had taken one more class than Calmes, who had taken a study hall her freshmanyear.
Electricity in the air
Colby Middle School sixth grade students staged an electricity fair in the gym. They invited K-5 students from throughout the district to visit and learn some of the principles of electricity through educational exhibits and hands-on participation.
Abby girls hit 63% to whip Edgar, take loss to Spencer
The Falcon girls’ basketball team hit a blistering 63% from the field Feb. 11 to take a 53-43 win over Edgar at Abby.
