Since announcing her candidacy a few months ago, Mary Burke says she has put about 12,000 miles on her car while crossing the state and meeting people.
On Wednesday, Burke came to Medford and took time to sit down for an interview at The Star News before heading to meet a local Democratic party group for lunch. The stop was part of a tour through the northern part of the state in order to make the Madison school board member, former state commerce secretary and Trek Bicycle executive more known to voters in the region.
“She is a candidate who realizes there is a state north of Hwy 10,” said retired congressman Dave Obey who joined Burke on the tour and introduced her throughout the region.
Obey praised Burke saying she is the kind of leader who has been missing in the state in recent years — one who would work across party lines to get positive things done for Wisconsin’s voters.
