Chamber of Commerce hear barber shop singers
For their annual meeting, held at the Presbyterian church, the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce were served a turkey dinner by the Presbyterian ladies, during which the newly organized Barber Shop singers sang their repertoire.
Guards beat Loyal city team Wednesday
The Abbotsford Guards basketball team staged a thrilling comeback to beat a tall Loyal team, 61 to 51. The Guards were led by Kalepp with 26 points.
University band to deliver concert
When the University of Wisconsin band presents a concert in the Abbotsford High School gymnasium on Thursday, Feb. 4, the audience will be hearing the 1954 version of Americaâs oldest college band which has a history going back to 1885.

Nikolay claims city is at fault for sewage issue
A claim for $30,000 in damages to an Abbotsford home was presented to the Abbotsford City Council in regular session Monday evening in city hall by John J. Nikolay. The damage, according to the claim, was caused by city surveyors giving Nikolay the wrong grade levels for his connection to the cityâs sanitary sewage system.
Johnsonâs Garage, Inc. opens at Colby location Monday
Forrest Johnson of Unity has purchased the H. H. Motor Company building and equipment in Colby from Bernard Tesmer. The new operation will be known as Johnsonâs Garage, Inc.

Wheels turning slowly in contamination search
The DNR is trying to simplify the identification and cleanup of gasoline contamination at several sites in downtown Abbotsford, but the effort is proceeding slowly because of the complexity of the issue and the need to coordinate funding with another state agency.
