Sara Strunk Sara Strunk

Sara Marie (Stroetz) Strunk was born to Robert Stroetz and Esther Borchardt in Marshfield on December 16, 1963. She graduated from Colby High School in 1982.

She lost both parents to cancer at age 18 and then sought refuge with relatives in the Elroy, Wisconsin, area. She met and married her first husband while there. Their first child, Robert, died at birth. Two more children, Charles and Casandra came from that union. She followed her first husband on his military career. While stationed in Germany, she met a guy from Wisconsin in a beer tent. The two of them remained friends for years.

After the war, Desert Storm, her first marriage dissolved and she moved back to Wisconsin with her two children. After settling in she looked up her old Wisconsin friend. She jumped in the car and drove three hours to surprise him while he was bowling. They fell in love and were married on June 22, 1996. Her new husband also fell in love with her two children. Together they raised them up as best they could. Camping, fishing, goofy trips and of course, garage sales, all good stuff.

Then to their surprise along came another child, Bobbi Jo, what a blessing. Along the way she worked as a restaurant manager, cook, school aid, factory worker and mother. Her faith in God kept her centered.

Later in life she was introduced to the world of vintage clothing. She was known as Ginger DeVille to a lot of wonderful people she loved dearly. In the fall of 2022 cancer entered her life. She put up a hell of a fight but eventually lost her battle, surrounded by family, on November 28, 2023. Tears down here but not up there. I will miss you my love. Smooch Sara is survived by her husband, Robert, as well as her children: Charles (Alex) Madden, Stratford, Casandra Madden, Marshfield and Bobbi Jo Strunk, Edgar; and two grandchildren: Michael and Archer Madden. She is also survived by her brothers: Eugene Stroetz, Unity and Randy Stroetz, Spencer; and a sister, Lori (Kris) Weber, Elroy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Robert Allen Madden and her sister-in-law, Darlene Stroetz.

A Celebration of Life will be held December 16, 2023, at 1 p.m. at the Dorchester Memorial Hall. Reverend Teri Hanson will preside. Sara’s 60th birthday celebration will follow until 6 p.m.
