So many accomplishments
The Accountability Report Cards for the 2018-19 school year were released by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction on Tuesday, Nov. 12. The Loyal School District and Loyal Elementary School earned an “exceeds expectations” rating. The Loyal Jr/Sr High Schools improved over the previous two years with each school showing significant improvement. We thank our dedicated staff, families, and students for this improvement.
We enjoyed a wonderful high school Christmas concert on Monday evening and are looking forward to the elementary program Thursday afternoon. We encourage our students to be involved in the community, so it is good to know they will be out caroling next week.
There will be five members of the LHS chorus participating in the 1,200-member choir in the Dorian Honors Festival held at Luther College in January. Planning is also underway for the All-Conference Band and Chorus program to be held in January at Fall Creek High School. We have 18 LHS students participating. There will be a 6 p.m. evening performance that we encourage everyone to attend.
The ACT testing will take place March 3. We encourage all juniors to be in attendance for this test. A link has been provided to the juniors to begin preparing for this exam.
Congratulations to the One-Act cast and crew on their performance at the sectional contest in Waunakee.
We have two special presentations coming this winter in our ongoing effort for overall student development. Tasha Schuh will be speaking to the students in grades 5-12 on Jan. 27. Tasha was paralyzed in a theater accident at age 16. Tasha will cover the topics of resiliency, respect, suicide awareness, choices, and attitude. Nathan Harmon will be speaking to students in grades 7-12 on Feb. 18. Nathan focuses on choices that matter. His presentation will include peer pressure, body image, valuing people, discovering your why, and the importance of identity (purpose, talents and abilities) to name a few.
Congratulations to the athletes who were recognized for all-conference honors this fall. In football: Matthew Szymanski, Brody Miller, Trevyn Wilke, Jake Baumgartner, Nathan Buchanan, and Colby Toufar. In volleyball: Kayla Bremmer, Katlyn Lindner, and Remi Geiger. In cross country: Savannah Schley. Kole Bogdonovich was named to the Academic All-State team.
Congratulations to Savannah Schley on her accomplishments at the state cross country meet.
Remi Geiger became the 10th member of Loyal’s 1,000-point club during the Greenwood girls’ basketball game last week. Congratulations on this outstanding accomplishment!
The Loyal football team was named as a Wisconsin Football Association All-State Academic team. We are pleased to have such well-rounded students, and I congratulate each of these athletes on their success. Thank you for your hard work in the classroom as well as in your extracurricular activities. Your dedication does not go unnoticed.
