FFA groups attend World’s Toughest Rodeo
On Friday, Feb. 3, a group of members who helped fund raise for both the Abbotsford and Colby FFA chapters through the fruit and nut sale traveled to the Twin Cities to tour an agriculture related business, experience the Mall of America, and attend the World’s Toughest Rodeo at the Xcel Energy Center.
The first stop the group took was in Minneapolis to tour Len Busch Roses. Len Busch Roses is a family-owned wholesale distributor of various flowers and plants including alstroemeria, lilies, tulips, snapdragons, gerberas, and other potted flowering plants in a total of 15 acres of greenhouses.
Members were able to see all production stages from seed to harvest and distribution ready products. After their tour they were able to experience the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn., and then attended the World’s Toughest Rodeo in St. Paul.
Bareback riding, saddle broncs, barrel racing and bull riding were all included in the show.
There were also special appearances from the rodeo clown “JJ” and a rope, whip and lasso expert. Abbotsford and Colby FFA members who participated in the Christmas fruit and nut sale were given RODEO CLOWNIN’ AROUND - Colby sent 18 FFA mem bers to the rodeo which included: back row left to right: Kya Rinehart, Megan Kosik, Dakota Floeper, Thalia Campa-Mata, Adalee Sanchez, Jasmine Ertl, Jenelle Ertl, Kalea Liedberg and Kaden Kunze. the opportunity to attend this were able to meet other FFA event. Incentives such as free members and experience varior reduced price rodeo tickets ous opportunities within the were offered to members who agriculture industry sold the most fruit.
Throughout the day students IT’S A COWBOY LIFE FOR US - Members of the Abbotsford FFA lined the stadium seats as they enjoyed the rodeo at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
