Heading off to Bruce, Aug. 29, for their first meet, the Cadott cross country program showed the promise that’s to come as they gain experience and mesh with each other over the season.

“The boys team will be exciting to watch, because they are young,” said coach Tom Weiss.

Out of 11 teams, the boys team took fourth place, while individually, sophomore Saibyn Will placed 26th, with a time of 21:11.53, while freshman Beau Steinke was right behind, in 27th (21:15.34).

Freshman Jon Phelps was a few steps back, for 32nd (21:41.11). Junior Ewan Weir followed that up with 48th (22:41.53) and sophomore Zach Kroeplin was 49th (22:46.21). Freshman Kaden Roen then crossed the line for 54th (23:11.86), followed closely by freshman Garrett Engel in 55th (23:14.32).

Senior Eli Burich came in 81st out of the large field (25:12.16), while sophomore Gryphen Lindeman was 87th (25:40.03) and senior Sage Handrick ended in 89th (26:01.51). Senior Braden Denzine came next for 96th (26:46.12) and freshman Klay Handrick rounded out the boys side, with 97th (26:48.67).

“For the girls team, it has everyone back from last year, and should build on last year’s success,” said Weiss.

The girls placed sixth as a team, but saw very good individual runs, with sophomore Iszy Sonnentag claiming 13th place (23:26.64). Sophomore Josie Roth was next, with 37th (26:25.47), followed by junior Mia Weggen, with 28:35.61.

Junior Adrianna Goodman was right behind for 55th (28:37.08), with sophomore Lexi Bremness taking 58th (28:56.25) and senior Alaina Kempen finishing up in 79th (40:39.15).
