The Loyal girls volleyball team won two out of three games they played at their home quadrangular on Aug. 22. The team competed against Rib Lake, Osseo-Fairchild and Marshfield Columbus, winning against the Redmen and the Thunder while falling to the Dons.

In their matchup against Rib Lake, the Greyhound girls won two out of three sets, with scores of 20-25, 25-18 and 25-17. During the contest, Hope Peroshek led the team in digs with 21. Danielle Strey led the team in assists with 22 assists and 5 aces in the game. Addysen Wolf contributed 8 kills and 8 blocks.

In the match against Osseo-Fairchild, the Loyal girls again won two out of three sets for the overall win, with scores of 25-22, 25-27 and 25-17. Wolf had 10 blocks and 5 kills. Molly Zvolena had 7 kills, and Autumn Zvolena and Olivia Nikolai each contributed 5 kills as well.

In their final game, the Loyal girls fell to Columbus in two rounds, which they lost 16-25 and 15-25. Overall, the team’s coach, Jaedyn Pieper, was pleased with their work.

“I am feeling pride,” she said following the game. “It was fun watching those girls tonight come out and show what they’ve worked hard for. There’s room for growth in our defense and block work, but we knew going in that weaknesses would be exposed and we’re ready to tackle them. I’m looking forward to this season and watching this team grow.”
