Hornets ready to run in post-season competition

Finishing up the post-season Oct. 15, the Cadott cross country runners headed to Loyal for the conference championship. The girls team continued their improved performance at each meet, this time, coming in fourth out of nine teams, while the boys placed sixth as a team.
Individually, Peter Weir hit another personal best, coming in second, with a time of 17:09.5. Freshman Saibyn Will came next, in 31st place (19:47.1), followed by sophomore Ewan Weir in 38th (20:24.9). Sage Handrick crossed the finish line next, to place 43rd (20:47.9).
Senior Jake Rowe followed that up with 51st (21:15.2), while senior Dawson Webster was 57th (21:28.8) and freshman Gryphen Lindeman came in 59th (21:34.6).
On the girls side, freshman Iszy Sonnentag trotted in for ninth place (21:48.1), while junior Jaycee Stephens was 16th (22:12.2), with freshman Josie Roth right behind, for 17th (22:19.6). Sophomore Lyla Weggen followed that up with 23rd (23:25.7) and sophomore Cortney Weggen was 24th (23:33.8).
Sophomore Mia Weggen ended the day in 44th (24:58.1) and freshman Marley Mengel placed 45th (24:04.3).
The Hornets will now prepare for Sectional action at home Oct. 22, to see if the post-season will find runners headed to State.
