David Haase

David H. Haase, 81, Stratford, passed away Thursday evening, June 8, 2023, at the Waterford of Colby under the care of ProMedica Hospice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stratford, with Rev. Sengole Vethanayagam officiating. He will be laid to rest in Webertown Cemetery in the town of Eau Pleine with military honors conducted by the VFW Post 6352 of Stratford. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the services.

David was born to Joseph and Loretta (Gerrits) Haase in Gilman on Jan. 23, 1942. He was a graduate of Loyal High School. Following graduation, he joined the United States Army and served his country from 1964-1965. On Aug. 21, 1981, he was united in marriage to Eleanor Kaiser at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stratford. David was employed as a welder for The Chicago Northwestern Railroad Company until his retirement.

He was a longtime member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stratford. David enjoyed playing card games with family and friends, especially a good game of sheepshead. He also enjoyed quiet time by the water, fishing.

He is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor; his brother, Richard (Geri) Haase of Greenwood; his sisters, Ruth Malloy of Belvedere, Ill., and Debra (Terry) Rueth of Loyal; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. David was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Loretta Haase; his brothers, Dennis and Alan Haase; and his brother-in-law, Robert Malloy.
