Peter J. Kostner

1940-2023 Peter J. Kostner, age 83 passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 1, 2023, at Aspirus Medford Hospital surrounded by his family. Peter was born on March 28, 1940, in Medford, Wisconsin to the late Jerome and Alice (Strachota) Kostner. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald (Jean) Kostner, and Ray (Terry) Kostner; and sisters, Joyce (Stan) Ackeret and Joan (George) Sackman. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Esther; children, Susan (Ken) Kraus of Medford, Sharon (Mike) Imbach of Medford, Kathy (Jeff) Rass of Wausau and Ken (Shelby) Kostner of Medford; grandchildren, Sydnie (Adam) Harder, Ben Kraus, Alivia Rass, Nicholas Rass, Mathew Kostner, Carli Kostner; greatgrandchildren, Quinn and Blake Harder; sisters, Rita (Nick) Hirsch of Brookfield, Anne (Gerry) Leischer of Lannon, and Mary (Tom) Cannon of Hartland. Upon graduation from Medford High School, he enlisted in the Army and served in Germany from 1959-1962. He was employed over the years by Weather Shield Mfg., Neuendorf Trucking and Tombstone Pizza as a truck driver. Peter married Esther Tallmann on March 27, 1965, in Medford. He will always be remembered for his hard work and love of the outdoors. He loved hunting and fishing. Pete always had a story about the one that got away. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
