George C. Freudenthal
1938-2022
George C. Freudenthal, 84, lifelong resident of Medford, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022 at Abbotsford Health Care Center.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford with Fr. Patrick McConnell officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Tuesday, Jan. 10 at the church.
George was born Jan. 21, 1938 in Medford to Carl and Melanie (Bloechlinger) Freudenthal. He grew up in Medford, where he attended Holy Rosary school and graduated from Medford High School.
Following high school, George farmed with his brother Jack and their mother where they pasteurized milk for the public that was sold from the farm.
Later he joined his brother in what is now Freudenthal Mfg. Inc. where he welded and assembled panels and barn stalls.
George had many interests including welding, deer hunting, playing cards, especially Smear, and most of all, dancing. He took dance lessons and learned to polka hop and was a member of the Polka Club of America. He would travel all over Minnesota and Wisconsin to polka with Janice. He also loved seeing his nieces, nephews and their families.
He is survived by his siblings, Jack (Therese) Freudenthal, Doris Chapman, Lorna (Elroy) Spreen, Ruth (Dave) Feddick; special friend and dance partner of 40 years, Janice Smith, who he thought the world of; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim and Richard Freudenthal; sister, June Butkus; and brother-in-law, Norman Chapman.
